Storytime!
Maybe. Click through to find out if Celia’s story becomes abundantly clear!
(On the note of our unintentional hiatus, we’re back! And so far as I can tell, back for the foreseeable future. I, your artiste, just really need to stop getting sick or going on vacation. Both of these are distinct possibilities.)
Aw, look at this lovely bit of small talk happening between new acquaintances!
This can’t possibly go anywhere bad, right?
Right?
Hey folks. I haven’t been in terribly consistent communication over the last few weeks recently, or really ever. Did you know that living in New York takes a lot of money and resources? Living in New York takes a lot of money and resources.
But anyway, despite Briget’s recent troubles (aka: having a life that needs to be managed outside of a webcomic that doesn’t generate any money) and my constant efforts to stay afloat, the comic has been moving ahead pretty consistently. Briget is drawing it whenever she has a free moment, and I’m already on the third story arc, which prominently features dance music. Listening to this footwork mix by Traxman has been awesome writing fuel: it’s incredibly concise and driving, which is a rare and welcome thing in DJ mixes, and it features a fantastic juke reworking of “Stayin’ Alive,” which is something I don’t think anyone would be able to argue against. It’s a great mix in and of itself, but it’s also a good view into the kind of music that Howard is into and what he’s probably been irritating the shit out of Nathan with on the drive to Minnesota when they haven’t been listening to music that they mutually enjoy.
Sometimes you take the time to draw a really cute face and then you cover it up with speech bubbles.
And that’s okay, because that face wasn’t doing any talking. But sometimes you just wanna show that cute face off. So here we are. An adorable Molly face and a still-unimpressed Elise face.
Oh Janelle. You’re so naively well meaning. As for you, Naomi, you are just fanning the flames of awkwardness on purpose.
Sorry for the late page. I was sick last week and it was super annoying. I’m better now, though!
Ha, did I say Wednesday? Apparently I meant Thursday.
Though in all honesty, I thought I’d manage to be done yesterday. Time makes fools of us all!
In any case, click through for comic!
And if I still had Photoshop, the shading/texturing of this page would have taken half the time, but I don’t, and was using a free program called Fire Alpaca, which is pretty good, but a little clunky. But it’s also free, and beggars can’t be choosers sometimes.
(Note to self: Stop making promises and excuses. Reasons may be legitimate but no one cares and you keep breaking promises which just makes you look bad.)
There’ll be a new page tomorrow, but I had to share this little preview just because g’awwww. It’s no joke when I say that the thing I most look forward to whenever Briget sends me a new page is seeing how she’s drawn Molly’s face. I might have to do a “Molly’s Facial Expressions” appreciation post once the first chapter wraps, in fact.
The perils of being saddled with an unusual name. People are going to ask you about it every time to meet someone new.
Yes, Nate. Because it’s been so long since you last smoked weed in Santa Cruz.
It definitely hasn’t been like, two days since you left. Nope. It’s been ages. Years even. (Mmm stoned logic.)
